一、單元分析（unit analysis）
（一）單元地位（unit position）
1. 本課在對希望工程描述時，談及了什么是希望工程以及希望工程地目的和意義。教師可圍繞“希望工程”這一主題，讓學生知道：what is project hope？and what is it used for?同時設計各種教學活動讓學生體會自己作為未來建設力量地重要性，明白形成正確地人生觀，世界觀地重要性，增強自己對人類社會發(fā)展地責任感和使命感，鼓勵學生去關(guān)心他人，幫助他人，培養(yǎng)人道，仁愛，同情和利他這些新時期社會建設所需要的最基本的人格。
2. 圍繞本課主題“making the world a better place to live”，學生探討希望工程的概述、希望工程的目的、希望工程的意義。并在此基礎(chǔ)上，展開我們?nèi)绾螀⑴c希望工程建設和怎樣關(guān)愛社會和回報社會。
3. 本課中是上單元語法的延續(xù)和補充——word formation(2)。本單元主要學習詞的轉(zhuǎn)化（conversion）和詞的合成(compounding)。
4. 設計對話，句型操練等形式，讓學生在任務型教學模擬情境中反復操練本單元出現(xiàn)的詞的轉(zhuǎn)化和合成的語法現(xiàn)象。
（二）單元目標（unit target）
1知道并了解希望工程的相關(guān)信息。
2培養(yǎng)快速獲取語篇信息地能力，分析、處理和運用信息的能力，以及表達和辯論地能力。
3能夠表達如何關(guān)愛他人，關(guān)愛社會，回報社會。
4通過學習詞的構(gòu)成擴大詞匯量。

3語法點：
英語構(gòu)詞方法主要有轉(zhuǎn)化、合成和派生三種。
1）由一個詞類轉(zhuǎn)化為另一而詞類，稱為轉(zhuǎn)化，如：
desire n. 愿望 -> desire v. 想要
2）由兩個或兩個以上地詞合成一個詞，稱作合成，如：
sea + food -> seafood
