Margaret Atwood(1939— )，加拿大當(dāng)代著名女詩(shī)人、作家、評(píng)論家、女權(quán)主義者，于1962年獲得哈佛大學(xué)碩士學(xué)位。她曾獲英國(guó)“亞瑟·C·克拉克文學(xué)獎(jiǎng)”、“布克獎(jiǎng)”，西班牙“阿斯圖里亞斯王子文學(xué)獎(jiǎng)”和加拿大“總督獎(jiǎng)”。其父親是自然科學(xué)家，經(jīng)常到森林里研究昆蟲，所以Atwood童年的大量時(shí)間都在加拿大魁北克省北部偏遠(yuǎn)地帶度過(guò)。她的詩(shī)靈感大多來(lái)自自己童年時(shí)代迷上的神話和童話故事。著有Double Persephone(《圓圈游戲》，1967)、The Animals in That Country(《那個(gè)國(guó)家的動(dòng)物》，1968)和Procedures for Underground(《地下鐵路的手續(xù)》，1970)等詩(shī)集，及The Edible Woman(《可以吃的女人》，1969)、Cat’s Eye(《貓眼》，1988)和The Robber Bride(《強(qiáng)盜新娘》，1993)等長(zhǎng)篇小說(shuō)。

It’s psychic. It’s the age. It’s chemical.
Go see a shrink or take a pill,
Or hug your sadness like an eyeless doll.
